I don't know if this forum or thread is still alive but here is hoping. Two things.....first,the DVD complete box set is available at a very respective £20 online in HMV sale as well as on Virgins 'on demand' service. Second and my real reason for posting,I need you guys hep. The music used at the end of each episode in series three, anyone know what it is and who its by. I have searched and searched but no one seems to know. Great site for a classic show. I love Morse,Prime Suspect,Trial and Retribution and Cracker and wonder will we ever see tv shows of this quality ever again.

Thanks! catching a brief snippet of Cracker streaming today made me think of leaving this message on a Cracker forum years ago (over 10 years!) and that I never found the song I was looking for. A quick google search and there you go! Great song. Is it the song I was thinking of? I don't think so. . But thanks to the discussion on this thread, I've been able to work out that it was in fact just the plain old "Theme from Cracker" by Roger Jackson. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHneoy3bfkkThat version just ripped from the DVDs apparently, so never any official release. Nice to put this one to bed after a decade. Cheers.

Hi there. I have been searching for a list of songs in 'Cracker' with no luck. I am especially interested in finding out what song does Fitz listen to in "To Say I Love You" while getting schlossed in the garden. mn Hey, to pay it foward - in the version that's on Britbox now he's listening to 'I Can't Change It' by Frankie Miller. Could have been different on DVD or TV. Maybe you'll check back here in few years to find out

Dr Fitzgerald is a heavy drinker, smoker and gambler, often sarcastic (although he claims to 'like it', probably inside resents) and doesn't seem able or willing to amend his ways so the song carries a certain justification.
The series is back on ITV2 or 3 now. Started showing the broadcasts again a few days ago with the very first episodes 'Mad Woman in the Attic', they're now into the 'To say I love you' episodes. Just a point out that fans of the show may be missing out or not realise it's being shown again.

Celebrating its 30 years anniversary now as well which is nuts and makes me feel very old! I hope the show still finds new viewers as it deserves to even after all these years. It really was Robbie Coltrane's defining moment playing Fitz. Still waiting for a Bluray release, think it may be a long time coming though 😂

I don't even have a DVD release of it, box-set for example. May be a fan of the series but never really had the inclination to own all the episodes.
Seeing as people could view it on You Tube for example at any time (although pay as you go customers will find that eats up a lot of data) and it's shown on Television every now and again, even enthusiasts or fans of the series will always get the opportunity to tune in and watch again.
It only ran from 1993 to 1995 if you take the unofficial White Ghost episodes out of it which asks the question why did the series have such a short shelf-life. While it's a shame it seems it were over before it really got underway and a number of characters particularly Bilborough and the Fitzgerald kids were never really explored or given the time / right character development the show provided a number of standout storylines even if a number of clear plot holes seemed evident. No one other than the big Scot could have portrayed the main character, he seemed tailor made for the part. RIP to Mr Coltrane, it's like watching the series in a new light since the recent passing of the actor.

I think the key is Jimmy McGovern. He wrote Cracker in a way nobody else could match. Robbie Coltrane knew this which is why when McGovern said he wasn't writing anymore, Coltrane didnt commit to any further series. Plus he started venturing into Hollywood and the movies and i think at the time that was wanted he wanted to prioritise. The non McGovern stories were not as strong (however I think 'The Big Crunch' has its place within the series and i think 'True Romance' works) but 'Best Boys' has never been a favourite of mine and i dont even bother with 'White Ghost'. I know McGovern wrote the 2006 special but it just wasn't the same. Agree, nobody else could have played Fitz other than Robbie. It was genius casting and he embodied the role in every possible way.
