I don't know if you already knows this, but there's a programme about the making of the new special 'Nine Eleven' to be shown next Sunday (1st October) on ITV3 at 11.05pm-12.05am, straight after the new episode is broadcast. Sounds great!

Thanks Ben. I knew it was coming up, wasn't sure about the exact time. I'll post it on the main site.
On the Sky+ guide, the description says something like "A look back at the groundbreaking series with interviews with Jimmy McGovern and the cast, including Robbie Coltrane and Barbara Flynn. Plus behind the scenes on the new case".
Fingers crossed, it won't just an hour long focus on the new special then. Going from that, I'm really hoping it is a look back at the entire series in general. If this then makes it on to the DVD release, we will at least finally have something resembling some DVD extras!!

"CRACKER - BEHIND THE SCENES ( 2006 ) Runtime: 45m 48s" was classified by the BBFC for release at a 12 certificate on September 21st. Which suggests inclusion on the DVD is very likely. I hope it's more than a 'everyone's great to work with' piece, that it has some depth...

Yeah, I hope so too. I'm so glad that it looks like some of this programme will be all about the original series, we've never had anything like it before. And if it makes it to the box set, even better!! From the DigiGuide pages on the net: "A look back at the groundbreaking series as the acclaimed drama about the maverick psychologist prepares to return to the screen. Featuring interviews with the show's creator Jimmy McGovern - who reveals his reaction to learning who had been cast in the lead - as well as cast members including Robbie Coltrane, Christopher Eccleston, Barbara Flynn, Lorcan Cranitch and Kieran O'Brien, and exclusive, behind-the-scenes action on the set of the new case." Hmm, I hope Geraldine Somerville is in there somewhere too though!

Hmm, I hope Geraldine Somerville is in there somewhere too though! Oh, good point! Maybe she's not too keen after stepping away from the new special. Did you see the clips among The South Bank Show last night? Weird to see Fitz and Juith that much older...and yet the sound, the dialogue, the tone, all felt right. More modern in the direction, but still part of our beloved Cracker-verse.

Well, regardless of the circumstances surrounding her inclusion in the new special, she was a major part of the original series, and I think it'd be really sad if she hasn't be interviewed for this programme on Sunday. She may well be in it, and I really hope she is, but it's odd she's not mentioned in that bit of text Yes, saw the 'South Bank Show' interview - seemed like an extended ITV trailer for the new special a lot of the time rather than a deep insight into Coltrane but a worthy watch all the same, and I thought the clips were great. It's going to be weird seeing it back on ITV after all these years. It must be pretty much 10 years to the day since 'White Ghost'...or are we not counting that?

She may well be in it, and I really hope she is, but it's odd she's not mentioned in that bit of text Yeah it is. And it would be a huge shame. But...well, sometimes actors will deliberately distance themselves from a project. Still, hoping not. Not long to wait to find out! Yes, saw the 'South Bank Show' interview - seemed like an extended ITV trailer for the new special a lot of the time rather than a deep insight into Coltrane but a worthy watch all the same, and I thought the clips were great. It's going to be weird seeing it back on ITV after all these years. It must be pretty much 10 years to the day since 'White Ghost'...or are we not counting that? If only... I'm two stories into my full series re-watch, but what I do remember is that White Ghost improved each time I watched it. Performances, motivations, ideas...they all got stronger after you stripped away the initial disappointment. Which is to say I now have a vague grudging respect for it...though still see it as far less than the three main series. Oh, and the ADR (the re-dubbing of actors after shooting) I recall being GHASTLY.
