Hi there, im an a2 student studying Jimmy Mcgovern as part of my coursework. In particular i am looking at how his controversial writing has been a key to his success. I would be grateful if you could take the time to answer my questions below.
1. Do you feel Jimmy Mcgovern would have been as successful if he hadn't used controversial isssues in his stories?
2. Do you feel the controversy used in his scripts put off some programme makers?
3. Do you think that a writer limits there audience by using there own past experiences for inspiration for there scripts

1. There are no controversial writings, just some issues with catholicism that other writers already pinned down. Nothing new here, just other setting. Go read Spinoza, Toland or Hume! (or as Fitz would say: so go lock yourself up for a couple of days and study what's HERE, and in HERE.... and then read a book)
These other questions.. you really should be able to do that yourself, don't you...
2. As long as Big Brother and/or weakest link is on TV, no. Since Tarantino everything is possible on TV
3. Depends how good his or hers writing skills are.
