I'll write more later, but I loved it when Fitz was in bed crying about his relationship with Panhandle. When it aired on BBC America here, they cut it out for some reason. But when I saw it on DVD, the tears came to my eyes.

wow... i just finished a DVD run through all three series, and i'm both exhilerated and aghast. i went back to netflix and imdb to see whether i wasn't mistaken that there were only three series (plus the '96 hong kong dealie). i want to see more of these folks... i want closure... i want to know whether mark's all right... argh!

I actually met Emily Joyce once about two years after the episodes were first shown and as a fan of the series, got into a discussion and she's a nice woman, but she did give some men nightmares with what she did. Reminded me a bit of the Glenn Close character from Fatal Attraction and how men should behave themselves and treat women with respect.
At least it gives Mark Fitzgerald something to do in the end, as all the time up til then he was just a piece of the background and offered nothing whatsoever, so I guess in the end they decided to let him have some time on screen or do something worthwhile.
This was Jane Penhaligons last appearances in the series, which was a great shame, and Fitz goes out smoking in the inner doors of a hospital, when he should of really gone outside. They did make another storyline in 1996, but it wasn't official to the series and just an extra, so this did indeed mark the end of the Cracker official series. Poor finish in the end to such a great series.

Viewed this again last night as ITV had it as part of repeats, I don't know how amany times now.
This as we know was the last storyline of the official series and can't decide if I love it or hate it. For one thing it
seems too far fetched that Janice would kill off men because she didn't recieve enough intention, or was it she felt mistreated ? And
why does she have a fax machine in her flat ? (Or the Fitzgeralds for that matter)
Fitz does a lecture at the start and puts one of his bills on a projector in front of a large audience with his address clearly
visible. There was also an unintentionally funny moment when Judith gets hysterical and "asks" the Manchester police to find Mark,
'that's what you do, that's what you say you do, so find him etc' - it was almost worthy of a razzy award.
It wasn't the best way to end the series I don't think but it's a decent watch except when you've seen it so many times it gets a
little repetitive. Joyce's Janice does well and Kieran O Brien gets to play a bigger part than usual but could never warm to Ricky
Tomlinson's DCI Wise. As Jimmy Beck said before he leapt, he's not a patch on David Bilborough.
Wstch again and try to understand how Janice can disappear in an instant without making a sound after she and the second male victim
have just finished 'their business'

Mixed in quality, as I recall. A hint of sadness and not the best way to end it as some said. I didn't think it had the depth of some others. This may be in part Paul Abbott, that said I really liked the episode 'Best Boys' by him.
I still think the overall quality is so high. If you consider the output, there is comfortably like 8 film length productions with better scripts and stories than most films, working with the same core.
