Do you know why they used Cracker as the name of the show?

Hi Sarah - loved Cracker and pleased to see a web site for it still running.
In Men should Weep - a homeless war veteran sings Rule Brittania in an abandoned factory ... do yo know the name of the singer or where a copy of it can be purchased
thanks for your time ...... Wayne

is tbis website still operational? The website, no. Sorry, I didn't have the time to keep on top of it. It still is visible via the WaybackMachine archives though. This forum i have left going, but the show is nearly 30 years old now so not much to update with nowadays sadly!

Loved Cracker at the time and wanting to revisit it but unhappy with censored and messed about versions. I'm looking for full uncut original versions of Cracker episodes. Would you be able to help? Thanks.

Thanks. Near impossible to get hold of now i'm afraid. Although the only uncut original i know of is the first episode of Brotherly Love which was extended and then subsequently re-edited for TV repeats. I don't think it's ever made it to a DVD release either. When Netflix UK had Cracker on their streaming service 4 or 5 years ago the full version of Brotherly Love was on there but they eventually took it off. Maybe one day it will resurface! As far as i'm aware all other episodes shown on TV repeats and released on DVD etc have always been the originally screened episodes.

Wanted to give condolences of the sad news of the passing of Mr Coltrane, remembered used to use this forum but it seems sadly neglected in recent years. Whether we have 1 user or 1000 it seemed the logical place to pass on respect.
Robbie wasn't just the focus point of Cracker he had so much more to offer. James Bond villain / accessory during the Pierce Brosnan era and notable films like Nuns on the Run and Mona Lisa. I was genuinely dismayed to hear of his passing.
Cracker, as great as it was, just wouldn't have worked or been viable had Robbie Coltrane not starred in the lead role. Take the opportunity to pass on respect and condolences to Mr Coltrane's family and nearest at a difficult time.
Didn't know where to include it as there appears no official annoucement or thread on the pages in tribute to his passing. Just had to provide mention, it's all about respect for the work and contribution of one man who proved something of a stellar acting name.

I dont think its a case of this forum being neglected, unfortunately Cracker is knocking on to it's 30 year anniversary next year....it's an old show, not repeated very much on TV now and therefore not really seeing much of the way of online discussion anymore sadly. I also unfortunately had to stop the website this forum was attached to as my provider no longer accepted the format of which it was originally written on and due to time with work and being a mum of 3 kids simply have never had the time to get it up and running again. Maybe one day I will get round to it! I was truly saddended by Robbie's passing last week. He was a fantastic actor who did so much good work but for me Cracker is his defining moment. Cracker will always and forever be my favourite TV series. It may look dated now when watched but some of the topics covered are still as relevant and powerful as ever all these years on. I couldn't even tell you how many hours I have spent of my life re watching it! It's a simply amazing piece of television. The creation by Jimmy McGovern and performance by Robbie will be remembered forever, nobody and I mean NOBODY could have played Fitz other than him. He was made for the role in every sense. His bringing to life of Fitz was just a work of genius. RIP Robbie Coltrane .

They're showing old episodes on ITV3 now, started a day or two ago. It's on right now, watching the hour repeat. Mad Woman in the Attic was on the other day, this time it's To Say I Love You. Watching it right now, Chris Ecclestone looks really young here. Not sure how he's a DCI, seems a bit junior for such a high ranking role. He's better than Rick Tomlinson though.
I imagine they're going to put on all the original series now right up until the final one, can't recall the title but Emily Joyce was in it. The one after Best Boys but for the life of me can't recall the title.
"True Romance" that's it I think. Had to think hard there for a minute.
Only problem with ITV putting these on again is they coincide with other stuff on the TV this time of night. I mean I've seen the Cracker series back to front and over again but this is a good opportunity to view once more that they're showing on TV again. It's all in tribute to the late passing of Mr Coltrane, It has to be, can't really see any other reason for them to put it on.
Remember, ITV3 - evenings around 10 pm. Get it while you can, it's something of a treat for fans like us who don't own no DVD releases or anything.

Also, looking at the TV guide when they show the 1st episode of Brotherly Love it is listed as being 1hr 20mins which means it is likely to be the originally screened extended episode! I would say its definitely being shown as a tribute to Robbie, been a long long time since its been repeated like this over the course of just a week or so.

With the series back on TV again, I'll be getting the opportunity to post again here and providing opinion with each episode as they are shown.
BUT, having problems with the log-in process. Having to request an (email) password change every time want to log-in as the last one used isn't accepted when coming back after the previous visit. This is, for want of better words, frustrating and causing a certain amount of issue.
Could Admins check out this problem and see if there's a glitch in the system, it would be a appreciated if this issue was resolved.
It asks for username at the log-in page - all right I put in the same user name and proceed with each new password, but when coming back for the next visit am frozen out and it doesn't want to know. It's a nuisance you can do without that's all.
