Yep, no Panhandle, no Judith - although DCI Wise is in it. I have serious issues with 'White Ghost' as a Cracker story, I really didn't like it and really felt let down by it when it was shown back in 1996. Still a bit unsure as to the reasons for Penhaligon's exclusion really, it may have clashed with other work that Geraldine Somerville was doing at the time and so she couldn't be in it. The story was that Fitz was on a lecture tour of university's in Hong Kong and got involved with the police when an englishman living there called Dennis stated bumping people off, which was all linked in with his business debts and his girlfriend who was pregnant. Fitz asks the police officers in Hong Kong if he can send for Penhaligon to help him and gets Wise instead. There were many reasons why I personally thought it wasn't very good - having it set in Hong Kong, characters we weren't familar with (i.e the officers Fitz worked with), a not very convincing crime story, no Panhandle, no personal storylines....

I know this comes a year after the last official episodes of True Romance, but have never seen it. ITV have never put it on, and I don't own the DVD box set so don't know if it's included on that. I haven't seen the 9/11 storyline from a few years ago either.

Hi there, yes "White Ghost" & and the 2006 special "9/11" are both included on the most recent boxset release. "9/11" rarely gets repeated, at least, whenever ITV3 or whatever show the series they never seem to repeat that or WG for whatever reason. I am not a big fan either, personally, and they can be viewed almost totally independently from the orignal series. The show at it's peak was most definitetly Series 1 and 2 and whilst Series 3 was good it didn't quite match up to either of those.

They got to the end of the series (ITV) again a day or two ago, but they didn't put on the white ghost special episodes, but instead went back to the middle of the series and put on To Be a Somebody. (Parts 1 and 2 were last night, it's not on tonight..) : - /
I don't think White Ghost or 9/11 will ever be shown on terrestrial television, and the only way to watch is to get hold of a DVD set. I feel there really is no alternative. Really want to see both storylines, even though they're not part of the official series. I'll have a look around next time I'm out and see if I can maybe pick up the boxset somewhere.
